2.5 million

died within their first month of life across the globe in 2018, with close to three quarters dying in their first week, and one third dying on their day of birth.

Almost half of all deaths for children under 5 worldwide are babies.

SDG 3.2:

By 2030, end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age, with all countries aiming to reduce neonatal mortality to at least as low as 12 per 1,000 live births and under-5 mortality to at least as low as 25 per 1,000 live births.

We are currently not on track to meet this goal by 2030.

Respiratory distress is a leading cause of death related to premature birth. The more premature the birth, the more likely the newborn will need respiratory support.

Respiratory distress also impacts adults with different mechanisms driving the disease, however, the mechanical clinical support is similar. Respiratory distress impacts 200K American adults yearly.

Aero was founded to help physicians in low-resource settings treat respiratory issues with our sustainable, rugged and affordable devices.

Our patented device oxygenates, warms, humidifies, and sterilizes air before it is delivered in an all-in-one mobile enclosure.

Developed iteratively in Ethiopia and in partnership with Gonzalez Lab at Yale, our design demonstrates comparable performance with commercially available devices at ~1/10th the cost.
